ABOUT THE UPCOMING CONFERENCE IN 2025
We are delighted to unveil the central theme for our upcoming November 2025 literature festival: “Cultural Connectivity in South Asia”, complemented by the sub-theme “Bridging Borders through Translation.” Hosted by the Foundation of SAARC Writers and Literature, at the Academy of Fine Arts and Literature, we anticipate engaging or impactful debates, substantive dialogues, and insightful literary exchanges between SAARC member nations.

In our increasingly interconnected yet English-dominant global landscape, there is a pressing need to appreciate and understand the rich cultural heritage and diverse social contexts of non-English speaking communities. Translation emerges as a vital discipline in today’s world, serving not merely as a linguistic bridge but as a pathway to deeper cross-cultural understanding and meaningful dialogue. It is crucial to acknowledge the necessity for South Asian nations to achieve self-reliance from the domineering First World countries amid the rapidly changing global political environment.
Against this backdrop, we are proud to introduce the SAARC Writers Conference 2025, a groundbreaking literary gathering that will bring together distinguished authors, translators, scholars, and literary enthusiasts from across the South Asian region. This inaugural conference will serve as a dynamic platform for exploring how diasporic literature transcends linguistic boundaries as well as physical borders and fosters unity among our diverse nations. Through panel discussions, readings, and collaborative sessions, the conference aims to celebrate the remarkable literary traditions of South Asia while charting new pathways for cultural exchange and literary collaboration across borders. We eagerly await your presence and hope to see you at this remarkable gathering!
